What does it mean to transfer a domain name?
Transferring domain name simply means to move your registration information
from one registrar to another registrar. In the past, Network Solutions was the only
authorized registrar. Now, there are many accredited registrars to choose from.
Why would I want to transfer
domain registrars?
When you registered your name you probably paid up to $70.00 to reserve it. Now
that it is coming due, you can save yourself some money by transferring your name to us
for the extremely low price of only $11.95.
When you transfer your name to us, the registration period is automatically extended by
one year from the current expiration date. In addition, once the transfer is complete, you
will be able to easily manage your domain registration by using our secure online manager.
Do I need to
wait until the registration is about to expire before I transfer domain registrars?
No. You can transfer now. When you transfer your
domain name to us for only $11.95, the
registration period is automatically extended by one year from the current expiration
date. For example, if the registration is to
expire in three months. By transferring your name to us, the registration will expire in a
year and three months.
Will transferring domain registrars
change my information?
No. All existing information in your registration will be preserved. Once the
transfer has been completed, you can then use the Manage
Your Account area to change any information you choose.
Is transferring
domain registrars difficult?
No. Simply click on the Transfer a Domain Name link and
enter the name you wish to transfer. The administrative contact will receive an email to
confirm the transfer. (Please note, if the admin contact's email address is outdated, they
will not be able to receive the email, and there can be no confirmation, and thus, no
transfer. Make sure that the admin contact's email address is still valid with your prior
registrar first.)
